A Fond Farewell & 10 for January

Photobucket After a heavy night of staying in watching DVDs and drinking Yazoo, we went for a walk in a very windy Whitley Bay to ring in the New Year!

After a lovely week of accomplishing nothing and lazing around watching cartoons in Newcastle, today is the day I finally had to come back to reality and leave the festivities behind for another year. I had already decided not to bother making silly resolutions like 'weigh eight stone' and 'stop eating Haribo', but after snuggling up and watching A Whisper of the Heart on New Year's Day, I felt inspired to make a list of things I'd like to achieve this January. Since my Goals For Autumn challeneg was such a giant failure, I thought making a list of fun thinsg to do rather than only setting myself strict challenges would be a better way to go about it. January is the worst month, so it's always a good idea to have exciting things to look forward to!

01. Look after my skin - and reward myself with the Clarins primer I've been lusting after if I succeed!
02. Get a roll of film developed - I found one in my drawer from a trip to Montpellier in 2010 and I can't wait to see the results.
03. Explore and discover - anywhere!
04. Read two books - I took the plunge and bought a Kindle, and I'm reading (and loving) Arthur Ransome's Old Peter's Russian Tales at the moment. You can get it free on Amazon!
05. Go out for a nice meal - I love getting dolled up and going out for a fancy meal, even if there's nothing to celebrate!
07. Make something – anything! I have my eye on this globe and these origami stars.
08. Get into a TV series - I got the Ab Fab boxset for Christmas, but I want to try something new too. any recommendations?
09. Organise and declutter - I got a head start on this today, but there's still so much to be done!
10. Find a new hobby - I think I'll hit the library for some inspiration this weekend.

And would you look at that? Not a diet in sight! I'm not expecting to complete all of these, but I'll try and blog about the ones I do succeed at.

2012 will definitely take some beating, and I'm not sure how 2013 will top trips to Italy and Estonia, Olympic and Jubilee celebrations, graduating and getting my first 'real' job, or seeing Rammstein on my birthday, but I can't wait to see it try! Have you posted your goals or resolutions for the year? Let me know in the comments, I'd love to take a look! Here's to 2013! And more Haribo!

  1. January is the worst, but it's somewhat inspiring to start new projects! Some shows I'd recommend are Girls and Community, if you haven't seen them already :)

  3. Old Peter's Russian Tales is great, isn't it. I read it after I read The Snow Child, as that's based on Little Daughter of the Snow.

  4. Also, if you haven't read "Blood Red, Snow White" I think you may like that, too.
