20 Facts About Me

I’ve seen a lot of the 50 Facts About Me Tag posts flying round, and I always think it's nice to learn a little bit more about the bloggers you follow. I definitely wasn't going to get on Youtube, and I haven't done 50, but here's my attempt at being interesting. Some I've mentioned before, others not so much.

  • I love learning languages! I'm fluent in German and speak a little Spanish, Italian and Russian. However, I've lived in Wales my whole life and only know enough Welsh to get by.
  • I'm a huge football fan and I support Liverpool for my sins.
  • I'm allergic to sulphites which also means I'm allergic to most forms of alcohol. It makes my chest tight, I feel like I can't breathe and I get awful stomach cramps. Not fun!
  • But I am partial to a gin and tonic, which is unfortunate.
  • A dog bit me when I was a baby and I still have the teeth marks in my hand. They're pretty nifty.
  • Ever since I can remember I've suffered from a crippling anxiety problem which affects every aspect of my life. Sometimes it's so bad I can't leave the house, and it makes doing even the smallest things like sending an email or replying to a tweet a huge ordeal for me. It's completely consuming and I hate to think about how much of life I've missed out on because of it.
  • I love maths and got a B in my A-Level, but I'm crap with numbers. Even the most basic mental maths is difficult for me, and I always mix up the digits when I'm copying down telephone numbers.
  • My memory for dates is brilliant though - I can even remember the dates of the family holiday we went on when I was six.
  • One of my biggest fears is heights. I can't go anywhere near the edge of a big drop and it makes my palms sweaty just watching people do it on TV.
  • Other irrational fears include seagulls, umbrellas and daddy long legs.

  •  I've had the same set of best friends since primary school (above) and I feel really lucky that we've stayed so close even after 18 years.
  • I love travelling, but the only countries I've ever visited are the USA, Ireland, Spain, Germany, France, Italy (and the Vatican), Belgium and Estonia.
  • There aren't many foods I dislike, but I just cannot deal with celery!
  • My favourite food is grapes. I can't open a box and not eat them all, and one of my earliest memories is eating so many I was sick. Haribo Goldbears are a close second!
  • Anything to do with body parts makes me feel ill. I remember sitting in biology classes feeling sweaty and faint because I found it so disgusting.
  • I've never broken a bone, but my nose looks like it has been. It hurts to touch.
  • As well as my nose, I can't stand being touched on my ears, neck, throat, sides, knees, shins or feet. It really goes through me.
  • If I were an animal I'd be a spectacled owl.
  • When I was at university I suffered a head injury and ever since then the slightest knock to my head sends me into a state of shock. I have no idea why!
  • I love cats and I've had three in my lifetime called Poppy, Sooty and Montague. I'd love a little ginger kitten called Norman.
I'd love to read your facts posts! Leave me a link in the comments if you've done one too. :)

  1. I just did this recently too, it was actually really enjoyable. I'm loving reading everyone elses posts too.

That's so awesome you've had the same friends for that long, it's really sweet too. And I'd totally be an owl too ;)

  2. These are interesting - thanks for sharing!

I am the same with numbers, and wonder if there's, like, a number dyslexia. I really struggle with them, and suck at the numbers game on Countdown. Also feel you on the anxiety front. My agoraphobia is quite a problem these days.

  3. Amy - I loved reading yours! Owls are the best :D

Michelle - I'm feel lucky that some days I can leave the house without a second thought, it must be awful to feel like that all the time. i can't even begin to imagine. I really hope you're better soon!

  4. I totally relate to the maths one- I got As in GCSE maths and statistics, and cannot do mental maths to save my life- I just have a massive mental block on it! Also a sort-of Liverpool fan, in that my brothers are, and if I wasn't they'd probably disown me... x
